We went up the coast for a picnic at Crow Point. No sooner had we spread the picnic blanket and it started to rain, so we had to scurry back to the car. Shower dodging thereafter but we were still able to spend most of the day out.
Saw this heron and managed to park just in time to catch it flying off. 
Roast herons were a popular medieval banquet dish. The fat of a heron killed at full moon was said to be a cure for rheumatism.
