I don’t mind the squirrels helping themselves to the bird feed. They are such fun to watch! They have discovered that upside down is the most efficient way of reaching the seed. When the squirrels have finished, the magpies take over. I have three regulars, two of whom are very proficient at balancing, with wings flapping frantically, and the third just dives in and hopes for the best. Maybe it is a youngster, but it looks the same as the other two. All the while the lazy wood pigeons are down below catching any offerings. Sometimes the little birds, for whom I bought the seed, get a look in.
The stand was upright, but the combined weight of squirrels and magpies is gradually pulling it over.
We’ve put the central heating on, in August!
