Visitor from Russia, or maybe Finland

Great excitement! Our neighbours have had an exotic visitor for a few days now and N and I had our first sighting of it today. It's a Two Barred Crossbill which (the bird book says) probably breeds only in Russia, and in some years in Finland and Sweden. What this fella is doing in Scotland I do not know but there is no sign of a mate. However, he seems to be happy feeding on P and A's bird feeders several times a day. Apparently he also likes larch cones an rowan berries so he is in a good place for these. The white bars on his wings can't be seen in this photograph but he definitely has them and he is the most beautiful raspberry red colour. It's certainly a red letter day for me!
