Polypore Picture

I wandered up over Glen Moss this afternoon, it is a small nature reserve tucked above Kilmacolm, again this was somewhere that as a young boy I walked with my gran and as an older child I played with my friends, open space, a burn, trees to climb what more could boys want?

Over recent years it has been "managed" with walkways built and view points, in my opinion it has spoiled the natural feel of the area but it is progress I suppose!

This is a Birch Polypore (Piptoporus betulinus) it is a fungus that attacks Birch Trees and this example was about the size of a dinner plate, I liked the structure, appearance and colour so chise it as my Blip for today
