Beetle identification

As you are probably aware while I’m not bad at plant and flower identification, I’m not very good at insect indentation unless it’s a bee, wasp or ladybird. That being the case, can anyone tell me what this little chap, blipped on our pal Murdo’s lavender plant is called. I just need to mention that the plant was awash with bees too.

Anyway, a nice day having afternoon tea in Murdo’s garden was had.
