Puhdetyö

We had a dinner with my parents and my sister's family, little celebration because of my mother's and father's birthday. In the picture there are parents of my mother, Kaino and Eino. This is war time handcraft (=puhdetyö), that my grandfather did during the Continuation War's trench warfare phase. It is an ink bottle stand. He served as a horse soldier.

The Continuation War was a conflict fought by Finland and Germany, as co-belligerents, against the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1944, during World War II.The Continuation War began 15 months after the end of the Winter War, also fought between Finland and the USSR.
