Monday: Alaska Highway

Today was the day that the scenery really changed into the dramatic.  This was taken out of the window of the car, as we pulled up at the roadside.

We left Fort Nelson relatively early and took our time to get to our next stop, Muncho Lake.  We stopped at Tetsa River Lodge to sample their world famous Cinnamon Buns.  I think they are actually relatively well known as we’ve seen them referred to by various travel blogs etc.

We saw a bear, some white-tailed deer, elk and some antelope type animal (a big deer like but with long straight horns).  No bison yet - they’re supposed to be pretty common around here.

Our accommodation is lovely, set on the shores of the lake.

A couple of extras:

- Bakery
- Floatplane on Lake Muncho
- Lakeside, we thought this might be some sort of glacial trench
- Bridge
