An Open and Shut Case?

A return to the Helianthus (Sunflower) I bought at the start of August, and then almost killed within hours by leaving it in a small pot in the heat.

The main flower as closed but there is a glorious ring of off-spring (or side-spring?) which are making the most of the current weather.

I had not appreciated, until now, how delicately the flower itself closes up once the petals have gone.  Obviously this is to preserve the seeds, but it does provide an lovely ongoing display.  Good job I didn't deadhead it too early!
