Rusland Pool

We met at the Rusland Pool Inn , walked up the river over the hills into Bouth and down again.  I've checked the map and the river is called Rusland Pool. I further learned that between October and May every year, mechanical vehicles and horse drawn carriages are not allowed to cross the fords further upstream to protect the fish stocks. Apparently Rusland Pool provides excellent spawning, juvenile and adult habitat for a variety of fish species including salmonids and white-clawed crayfish.
Another fantastically sunny day in the Lake District. Yesterday we waved goodbye to miles of traffic jams of holiday traffic heading home.  With less people around we spread ourselves out over the outside tables and had a relaxed lunch in the sun. The only downside was paying full price for lunch now that Eat Out to Help Out has ended
