Surprises

Backblip
A few surprises today, first a white throat sitting on the garden fence and then a wonderful fox walking down the field, it’s red coat catching the sun.
We picked David up and went to the Highland Farm cafe for breakfast. They we’re still doing the ‘Eat out’ scheme so, although we could not have a full cooked breakfast, we enjoyed a bacon and egg roll and a coffee.
It was chilly but sunny. The view is lovely looking across to the Black Isle across the Cromarty Firth. Buzzards and red kites flew over head.
Next stop was the Neil Gunn Monument.Again great views of the Firth and the Cats back.We sat on a bench amongst the grass and hare bells and enjoyed the warmth of the sun.Again more Red kites overhead.
On to Loch Kinellan for a walk. Lovely goats and Alpacas and lots of swallows swooping about and landing on the telephone wires.A peregrine falcon spotted trying to catch one, not sure if it was successful. Think a water rail flew past too.A Bush was covered in peacock butterflies and seeing as butterflies have been hard to spot this year I decided to blip it :)
A nice walk looking for dragonflies and damselflies, spotted both.
Yellowhammers and goldfinches sang from the bushes. The two swans ( no cygnets) swam elegantly on the blue water.More house martens and swallows picked off insects from the surface of the water. Someone’s lost Sweep puppet was looking lonesome stuck on a pole.
Shopping in Tesco to stuck up with dinners.I was going to go in but the schools had just come out so decided against it.Mike bought a lovely orchid for just £5.The one we had at Christmas has just stopped flowering !
