There it was, gone!

There was a great big oil rig dumped right here. It was worked on in the first half of 2019. We had the invasion by Greenpeace, and a week long siege, police everywhere to clear them off. It went away briefly and was dumped back here again. See the extra,

Since then it has been worked on continuously, noisily, to everyone's dismay. Sleep was disturbed. Representations were made. Government Ministers were involved.

Over the last few days I was looking out to sea from our window on top of the porridge hill. Three huge offshore support vessels turned up, of the type often used to tow rigs. These were joined by an anchor handling ship and a safety standby vessel. A sure sign one of the many rigs in the Firth was about to be towed away. We prayed it would be this one.

Then this morning I saw it disappearing out to sea, at painfully slow pace but definitely going. And now it's like it was never there. Lovely.

By the way, do you like the rose hips?
