Obviously a very poor shot but I was a good distance away so as not to disturb it. There was a hen harrier hunting over the area when we arrived so the WP was probably keeping a low profile at first as we could not see it. This is the bird I tried for yesterday and failed to find. A local birder relocated it and I got a lift with a pal to go down to Burray and seek it out. The first one I have seen, only a few turn up in the UK and Ireland every year from its normal home in North America. That's two 'lifers' in a week with the white-winged black tern from the other day. The extra is some weeds.
