Tales from topographic oceans

The topographic map at the top of the Burton Dassett hills where we walked today. Not been for years but it’s not too far away and was lovely in the sunshine. You can see for miles to the Clent hills, the Malverns, the Cotswolds and all the lovely farm land  nearby. We met a ranger who showed us some information about the area. It was once under ancient oceans, the locally quarried stone is a lovely mellow Cotswold colour and you can see tiny shells in the stone.
A little distance away you can see a  stone structure which is where a windmill once stood. It blew down in a gale. This happened twice which seems a bit of a failure for a windmill.
We continued our walk to the Yew tree pub in Avon Dassett for a lovely and very welcome pint .
The extra was an old barn near Fenny Compton. I liked the old farm equipment lying around.
