Wayside marker

A marker stone along what was the old Peterhead to Ellon turnpike road. It is now a quiet single track road. Although the tolls which gave turnpikes their name were abolished a century earlier with the arrival of the railway, I remember my aunt referring the main road as the turnpike in the 60s.
