Introducing the family car

By 1926 Lorna's family owned this 20 horse power Austin 20. Having checked images on Wikipedia, it looks like this model is possibly a two-door Ranelagh.

These cars would have cost around £700 new in the 1920s. Today you would pay around £20,000 for one! That said, according to the ONS index, the sum of £700 in 1926 would translate (with inflation) to £43,068.67 today. So the £20,000 vintage car price tag is quite a bargain really...

Pictured with the car here are Lorna's brother Theo, her mother Topsie, and Lorna herself.
