Don't know where this word came from, but it belongs to this type of guitar - the type Django chose to play.

This beauty was built in Paris in the 1940's - I had to fill a centre crack as you can see. The big problem was the frets which were all over the place - & the fingerboard which is pearwood, pressure dyed black to resemble ebony.

This was thought to be a neat idea at the time - but given time, the dye renders the pearwood super crumbly.

There will be a healthy load of super-glue needed here...
