Pooka Vision

By Pooka

Little Pip isn't looking so little here.

Dubu has finished at Carbon Revolution, today was his last day and he has a new job up at Bundaberg (Queensland) so we're busy trying to get things organised.  This time next week we should be (if everything has gone to plan and there's been an awful lot of planning) starting 2 weeks of hotel quarantine up in Brisbane.
If it wasn't for covid and the border situations we'd be looking forward to our new adventure. People leaving Victoria are seen to be 'fleeing' covid. We're not fleeing covid, we live in a nice town that has had 15 total cases and has 1 active case. House prices are shocking though, we'll never be able to buy down here. We're fed up of freezing our butts off every winter and Queensland was the only state that Adrian, my brother JWow, his other 1/2 Jess and I could all agree on living. We wouldn't go to South Australia and they wouldn't come to Victoria. We've pushed on with our move because Bean will be starting school in January and we wanted to be settled by then. JWow and Jess will be moving up next year.
So far everything has been working out. Adrian applied for the job back in June when it looked like all the borders were going to open up and he got the job offer here. He's pushed the starting date back as far as he could go in the hopes that things settled down here and the borders opened back up. Around the time we waiting to see if he had the job our real estate agent got in touch with us and said that the landlord would like his house back (lots of people are getting kicked out of rentals down here because so many people have realised they can do work from home so why live in Melbourne when you can live in your holiday house) and we said as luck would have it we're looking to make a move up north, which has worked well for all of us because they get their house back 2 months earlier than they thought they would and we don't have to pay rent for a house we're not in and doubling up on rent.
One of the worst things about us moving now is we're not allowed to see anyone, so no goodbyes. Which is super sad, Bean and I have our mother group friends down here and Adrian and I have our friends in Geelong, who knows when we'll see them again.
Anyway, I've blabbed on long enough. The next 4 weeks will be a little bit on the interesting side.
