Day 254/20 Winchester Clock and Cone

This clock, dating from the 17th century, and Town Clock House (now Gaudion hairdressing) is mainly 18th century construction.  Look up and see the original town clock which was made and installed by James Padbury who died in 1898, the last of a family of local clockmakers.  Probably the oldest property surviving in the High Street.  If the alley doorway to the left is open you can see the ancient jetted timber building, part dating back to about 1460.

With all that history, who thought it a good idea to put a cone up there, and how did they get it up there! I think I like it though
