The white stuff returns

The ceaseless rain of yesterday turned to heavy snow in the evening, exactly as predicted by the weather gurus. We woke up to a covering of about three inches and decided to stay put and work at home.

As usual when there is a whiteout, our bird feeders saw plenty of action today. The siskins that put in an appearance last Wednesday were not just passing through. They have been around on most days since and there are more than just a pair.

Now that they are on the scene the goldfinches don't get to dominate. In a straight fight the siskins usually come out on top.
