Turning

MrM drove off this morning to go fishing, leaving me with a day to myself. And it was a productive day - amazing how much it's possible to achieve without distraction!

Did some kitchen 'housekeeping' that I've been putting off for a while, and then tackled lots of admin. Attempted, unsuccessfully, to sort out a 'disk space' problem with the website, and eventually resorted to Plan B (i.e. emailed Tom, my son, in the hope that he knows what all the gobbledygook means).

In the afternoon a walk up to the Common - a definite chill in the air up there, quite autumnal. The leaves on the red hazel are a gorgeous bronze colour with a translucent quality, and the catkins are forming, a sure sign that winter is on its way. Stopped to chat (at a distance, of course!) with several acquaintances I met on the way there and back. Later in the afternoon, summoned the energy to do 10km on the exercise bike.

A late evening meal when MrM returned. No fish on the menu, though!

And, oh joy! Apparently, to avoid a second lockdown, Boris Johnson is pinning his hopes on 'Operation Moonshot'. Unfortunately, it's not a plan to launch him in to space. It's a mass test and trace programme with a "vision" of 10million tests a day by early 2021. It would require technology that doesn't yet exist...
'Operation Pie in the Sky' more like!
