Scrapping Over the Fat

Waxeyes get very serious about who gets the fat, especially when it is nearly all gone. I like the shadows that give the appearance of strappy clothing.

I’m going to miss the waxeyes. The leaves are opening on the plum trees, and soon the little green birds will become invisible. Occasionally I’ll catch a glimpse of them flitting between trees, but mostly I’ll know that they are there because of the ruffled leaves and excited chatter.
