Here to Serve

This lovely Ram is so friendly - and just loves having his picture taken and his head tickled - he is fitted with a harness holding a raddle which marks the ewes with a colour when he has served them - giving the farmer an indication of timing for the lambs to be born - the colour is changed at regular intervals

Hubby and I spent a pleasant afternoon in the countryside around Wells walking along the National Cycle Route which took us along an old railway track - it was a great walk - we then ended up walking into Wells through a farmer's land which he has kept open for folk to enjoy - at one point there were several heifers up ahead and on reaching them we discovered they were actually standing in front of a gate we needed to pass through - Ah Well - lets get them to move - so into the group I walked and ask them to 'Please move out of the way' this they did after a few minutes - amazing I must be getting brave.

Extra:  Shows hubby on the walk surrounding countryside, Wells Cathedral - Glastonbury Tor in the distance - on the drive home we had to stop as a farmer was moving his dairy herd into another field and with the heifers was a beautiful brown bull - who looked straight at me - but unfortunately I did not manage to get my camera out in time, but I did manage to get a shot of him - All in all it was a very Country File like afternoon
