Almondell viaduct

Our walk took us past the aquaduct, carrying a mill lade over the river almond. It looked just like a modern metal footbridge, except that just a couple of feet under the metal walkway the water of the mill lade flowed gently in its own waterway.
A little further on the arches of the very substantial viaduct loomed up and the path we were on went under it. And this structure, which to me looked like a covered bridge, has been constructed to protect those on the path from objects dropped over the parapet of the viaduct.
The Almondell country park will see us again. Today was a walk with son and partner and two grandsons. And next time we will go up and on the viaduct.
