a day of contrasts

An early bike ride this morning - what is known locally as the '4 hills challenge' - a stretch of road between Haversham and Gayhurst.  

The profile on Map my Ride looks like a mountain stage of the Tour de France - but on a much smaller scale.  Made harder today by a ferocious headwind.

We stopped for blips (and breath) at the highest point; I was struck by the contrast between the ploughed and unploughed fields.

And then the rest of the day was - and will continue to be - lazy.  A snooze and then a bit of bike-fettling while a beef stew gets its act together.
