Field of Dreams

Hauser & Wirth is a series of worldwide galleries celebrating art and architecture, and with this their Somerset gallery also featuring a landscaped garden conceived by the esteemed Dutch landscape architect and plantsman Piet Oudolf. His Oudolf Field is a large perennial meadow situated behind the gallery echoing the tradition of classical gardens, but using new eclectic combinations of architectural plants and grasses. In the distance is the Radic Pavilion, as designed by Smiljan Radic.

Was it irony or petty-mindedness though that generated the “Please Keep off the Grass” sign? Either way, give me artworks sited in public that you are allowed to sit on, as opposed to gallery pieces you aren’t even meant to photograph, let alone go near.
