My old faither was a huge fan of The Corries. He used to play their tapes (I'm going back a bit here) in the car, and sing along VERY loudly.

Long after dad died, Ronnie Browne started coming to my shop for coffee and cake whilst his wife was at the hairdresser next door. He was a very charming, unassuming man, but once, when we were discussing his songs, he gave me a quick burst of what has undoubtedly become Scotland's national anthem...

I'm not one for regrets, but I so wish I could have phoned my dad to tell him. He'd have been thrilled.
