It's taking a bit longer than expected

Read an article on how to make an ISO backup of my Windows 10 operating system in case I ever needed it. The first thing it said was update the operating system. I didn't know it was going to replace my current version, and it took hours! I then made the ISO image to a memory stick which didn't take as long. 
Now I have to decide whether to do it on my PC also.
