Ancient Cork Tree

Such a lovely morning, so we decided on a drive to Wasdale, a Monday in September, should be quieter than it has been. How wrong we were, had to drive to the head of the valley to turn as  nose to tail traffic and no where to pull in or turn round. So on the way back we followed traffic again and thought the few cars in front were pulling in to let traffic through in the opposite direction, wrong again,  a farmer was walking a flock of sheep for dipping from Wasdale to Nether Wasdale, so another very slow drive. When we eventually reached Nether Wasdale we pulled in to have our picnic and let the traffic get away (extra).
We then decided on the way back to call at Gosforth Church yard for a look at the Cork tree which I'd heard about but never seen (main and extras).
When we got home, Ray decided to have a walk over Sale Fell so I went and had a quiet hour at Silver meadows nature reserve.
