Dark Bush Cricket

Pholidoptera griseoaptera.  Another well camouflaged insect.  This cricket is flightless and it eats aphids and small caterpillars as well as bramble, dandelion and nettles - so it is very welcome in my garden!  Apparently it takes two years for the larvae to fully develop.  This cricket is the male.

Extra photo:  Small Copper butterfly. Really bright in colour but very difficult to photograph as it doesn't stay long in one place.

A family meal at the local pub as it was K's birthday and there were seven of us including little I.  Fortunately the law changes to groups of six tomorrow, Monday.  There were several other larger families having their last meal all together for a while....
