Song Thrush

Although he has been grazing on and around my back lawn with his mate for several weeks now he has just started marking his territory. During the day his song is tentative, but at night, after the blackbird has said his piece, the thrush sings with full voice. He sounds young. His song has not matured.

Extra shot- the reality of birth. Warning: not for the faint hearted! I saw this ewe yesterday, her belly and udder so large she had trouble walking. Relief came this morning. I wasn’t surprised that she had triplets. I missed the actual birth. The little grey lamb was sitting in the grass as the mother licked and fed the others. Here she is calling the grey one to her. She took them to shelter from the cold wind.
