An idyllic ferry crossing

Today we were making our way from Nelson to Wellington on the North Island. This meant the return ferry trip from Picton and we were very lucky to have another idyllic crossing. The sea was blue and calm; the sun shone. We stayed on the sun deck for almost the whole journey and just watched the wonderful scenery going past.

For those who have never done this ferry crossing, if you look on the location map, or any map of New Zealand, you can see that the ferry has to make its way through the intricate Marlborough Sounds. It is amazing how such a huge vessel weaves its way though the inlets, islands and rocks. This is what makes the voyage so scenic.

This picture was taken as we were emerging from the Sounds and into the open Cook Strait. I have tried to place the blip exactly on the location map - hope it works. A bit unnerving as you watch from the deck and wonder how it can be possible to get between the rocky outcrops.

We are now in Wellington and will head north tomorrow.

Thank you to everyone who is following our travels. I hope you are enjoying the trip. I apologise for not always being able to reply to comments or to comment on all your journals. Be assured I am reading and appreciating every comment and am doing my best to keep up with following everyone's journals, However, the internet is very often expensive, slow, intermittent, limited and sometimes all of those things. I will do my very best to keep blipping, so stay with me.

Did you all find Blipbear yesterday? A super picture by Jeanne.
