Poppies

The Few (supported by the sometimes forgotten Many) fought The Battle of Britain 80 years ago today. Those that were lucky enough to have survived to land back after what was maybe their third or forth flight of the day knew that they would have to still go back up tomorrow and risk their aircraft and lives to continue the fight for eventual victory. Although fighting would continue for several more weeks, with many losses of life both in the air and on the ground, it had become clear that the Luftwaffe had failed to secure the air superiority needed for invasion. I was out on my bike this morning, wondering what I would photograph for my Photo Of The Day, and saw these Poppies in the corner of a field. I thought they would be suitable. I've lost friends and colleagues during my time in the Royal Air Force - this is also in memory of them...
