Tuesday Staycation Along Lake Erie

Parked at Burke Lakefront Airport.  Went in for a restroom and discovered the International Women's Air and Space Museum. Saw part of the Apollo control board from Houston. Passed the U.S.S. Cod WWII submarine walking to and around Voinovich Park near the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland Cliffs, and Science Museum. Lots of new condo and restaurant construction down on that section.

Drove through the near west side neighborhoods looking for an entrance to Whiskey Island.  Discovered the Soap Box Derby track.  Eventually made our way to Wendy Park/Whiskey Island.  Watched the lift bridge lower for a train to cross.  Lots of boaters, people fishing, kids learning to sail.  Enjoyed talking with friendly Clevelanders here and there.  Many kinds of warblers were in the trees having made their way south across the lake from Canada on their migration route.  This is the largest green spot for miles.  Lots of birders and photographers, and a few young people playing volleyball.  On to a quick drive through Edgewater Park before heading home.

A wonderful day.
