Bourton-on-the-Water

Our last stop today, and almost after everyone else had left. It was really quiet. The motor museum was still open but had passed its last entry time so maybe we’ll be back tomorrow. We walked along the river and over the bridges and that was about it for our time here.

Earlier in the day we visited Hidcote Gardens. We hadn’t booked but were given a slot for two hours later. The girl on the gate gave us directions for a walk to do in those two hours which we did and enjoyed amazing views overlooking the Malvern Hill, walking along farm tracks and across ploughed fields, always following the yellow arrow markers.

Hidcote Gardens were beautiful, although again suffering somewhat from Covid enforced neglect. The one way system worked well for a smooth and speedy entry and were then relaxed for wandering where we pleased, or until we met a no entry barrier. Very cleverly done.

Our route then took us into Chipping Camden where we joined others in its centre. I bought postcards to send to my Community Lunch ladies. I haven’t bought or sent postcards for toooo long! Quite a memory lane experience!

After coming back to the hotel to freshen up, we walked into Cheltenham for dinner. And back again of course, and find we’ve have clocked up some 14k today.
