Everyday I Write The Book

The bowl of goodness

Another lovely day. Richmond this time. Lunch in Wagamama - excellent food, very well organised. Whole Foods - got some vegan croissants and cakes. Then found a nice little pub down a quirky alley; sat in the courtyard garden before heading home for a relaxed evening.

Finished reading The Architect’s Apprentice. Another wonderful book by Elif Shafak that contains a series of key truths: nothing is permanent, nothing is quite how we perceive it, and the forces that drive the world (and in particular motivate humans) are endlessly complex. Our control over creation is limited but how we respond and the choices we make are everything, particularly with regard to the consequences for our own character. Living is a constant process of building (and sometimes dismantling) ourselves. We are the apprentice in our own imperfect existence. Lovely, deeply layered story. With a pretty amazing white elephant.
