Molly has lived here for 15 years but when Ms H went back to her flat for Uni, we began thinking whether her cat should join her to keep her company - Ms H has missed her when she was away. So tonight we packed her up and took her for a trial run. She'd spent a week there with our other cat Jess in January while we were on holiday and remembered where everything was.

Although she kept to herself, each night she'd sleep on our laps while watching TV. She didn't go outside much except to guard against next door's cat and to bathe in the sun, like today. Luckily Ms H has a patio and will encourage Molly to use it.

We're going to miss her... if it works out, she will probably visit us for Christmas and after Uni in May, and of course we'll see her when visiting Ms H... it also means Ms H won't be visiting us as much. To offset all that, we'll be encouraging Jess to join us upstairs more, which she avoided because that was Molly's domain.

So we'll see how all that goes....
