Sir Barrow monument

Made our escape from Dundee for a holiday, time will tell if we get all we've planned but we're okay for now.
Lots of road works on the way south and we didn't realise the A590 from the M6 was still closed so there was a long, slow detour and we'd wished we'd gone via Kendal as suggested at one point.
Anyhow, we srrived in Ulverston for a 3 night stay and once booked in to the hotel we walked up Hoad Hill to the monument, which was inspired by the Eddystone lighthouse and is in memory of Sir John Barrow who was born in the town and was an engineer. Apparently he was also responsible for getting Napoleon imprisoned on St Helena.
Great views all round, the one southish across the estuary is in extras, along with a pic of Ulverston's most famous son.
