Dour

Dour is Scots for surly, grumpy, uncommunicative ... there’s no exact equivalent in English that I can think of.

Why the deer decorating the doorway in the Queen Mother’s Memorial Garden should be portrayed as glum, I don’t know. But there he is.

We have escaped to the city for a few nights. Today we went to the Botanic Gardens, lovely as ever if a bit less groomed than usual. Just like me, :-))

I’m very happy actually. The result of Nico’s Covid test came through at 6.30 am, negative. A turn-around of less than 24 hours, so it is working well in some places.

It was back to school this morning for her, Mum brandishing her phone in case they didn’t believe she could have got a result so quickly.
