Make Every Day Memorable

Milky Way Over Mull

We were sad to leave our accommodation in Ballachulish as it was very comfortable and we've had a great week there.
However, the prospect of seeing more wildlife while on Mull for the next four days is very enticing.
Tomorrow feels like Christmas! One more sleep..... ;-D)

But first today. The sky was cloudless again from dawn but as we drove along the loch, mist swirled in patches and the reflections were perfect.
Many photo opportunities but we couldn't keep stopping along single track lanes.
We had a really enjoyable slow drive to Lochaline to catch the little ferry across to Mull. The little character in extras just popped out of the hedge as we passed. I had the camera on my lap so was lucky to get a shot through the windscreen.

We're staying in Salen where there just happens to be a couple of old wrecks (apart from us that is), so on arrival we made our way there.
Instead of the boats we found the old pier. We sat eating our lunch in 20 degrees, watching cormorants, dolphins and then an otter. PERFECT

At 4pm we checked in and then immediately set off around Loch Na Keal to look for eagles and watch the sunset.
The former didn't show but again we saw otters
We were able to watch the sun sink into the sea :-D)

Driving back to Salen we decided to go back to the old pier to try for some star shots thinking that there would be no light pollution. Unfortunately many of the houses keep outside lights on (because they don't lock their doors!) so it wasn't as dark.
However, I managed a few images of the Milky Way.
