Unexpected difference

This started off as an attractive, if fairly standard zoom shot (see extra).  I was wondering whether I could a get twirl flower out of it without faffing about with the various  'radial blur' steps and a fairly weak version emerged. Working down the filters suddenly produced this stained glass kaleidoscope effect when I hit 'difference'.  

As I said, unexpected!
