Quod oculus meus videt

Monitoring Car Boot Sales

I visited a couple of car boot sales with a colleague today, to see how the organisers were managing the traders and the crowds with regard to coronavirus guidance on social distancing.  This was the better of the two.
The site is within a mile or so of the boundary of Wolverhampton, which will have additional restrictions placed on gatherings in homes and gardens from Tuesday.

I have so much respect for my new colleagues, who have been working away for the last 6 months, engaging with businesses to support and advise.  The dichotomy here is that while the organisers have put in several measures in an effort to get the visitors to wash and sanitise their hands, move around in a socially distanced way and make the traders aware of their responsibilities, you can't legislate for human behaviour.  We wore masks during our time on site, but we were in the vast minority.  Most people were behaving as though there were no pandemic.  With the likelihood of the Government introducing additional measures in the near future, I wonder what the reaction of people will be this time around?
