DAS ENDE!

At the race track this past weekend, as usual. I always have lunch at Turn 14 with my friend Bill who is one of the corner workers at the track. He's responsible for knowing all the flagging rules to alert drivers of events happening down-track and also signals them if there's a mechanical or technical issue that requires them to pit...the pit entrance is right around the corner and a few hundred yards down track.

During lunch time, the track allows drivers to ride around the famed track in their own cars....for a fee of course. They are accompanied by pace cars to limit the effects of testosterone...this is a race track after all. Bill always signals the end of the "touring" session with a checkered flag. Sunday was his last checker....he's retiring from the position. I will miss the "candy man" immensely. We've been friends for years. If someone is curious, and asks, I will tell the story of how he became the candy man.
