Hastings

Had a wander around Hastings town centre looking for some Art Deco architecture for Steveng's wide Wednesday theme of built environment. Owing to the 1931 earthquake many of the region's buildings were destroyed. Consequently the rebuilding was in the Art Deco style of the period. Found a few examples above some of the shops (extras) but was more taken with the art installation in the main. It's called Filament and is by Auckland based artist Angus Muir. It represents the fronds of the Pohutukawa flower and lights up at night.
