The mourners

We visited the Museum of Thebes today. One of the exhibits was a clay box containing the bones of a dead. Outside the box was painted with women pulling their hair (and probably screaming or singing at the same time), a custom that continues even today in central Greece when someone dies. They are called "the mourners". These are burrying customs dating back to 2000 b.C. This clay pot is also from around 2000 bC.
