Beside the Creek....

Maisie and I were out well before sunrise this morning. There was lots of snow to be seen on the nearer mountains of the Richmond Range and up the Wairau Valley towards St Arnaud. Snow clouds, a pretty shade pink, are in the far distance. It’s very unusual weather for this time of year with heavy snow in more southern areas of the South Island. The sun shone here all day but a gusty wind was bitterly cold. This view shows Doctors Creek which joins the nearby Taylor River. The big poplars have started showing their leaves and the path is at the beginning and end of our usual walking route.
