Between fen and mountains

Small mantel clock

Quarantine day 10

Some clocks are easier to date than others. This one is approaching 90 years old and is something of a survivor. Like most of the clocks I repair, the value lies mostly in sentiment. This has a simple open spring balance wheel mechanism and the cost of repair will far outweigh its financial value. Nevertheless, it is the sort of clock I enjoy working on even more than a museum piece as it has a story. It has been a dull day today and the quarantine is beginning to feel quite tiresome. I went into the garden for a while to dig, simply to get some exercise.
