Young swan stretching his wings

Our morning walk today was along the Tarka Trail in Braunton. These young swans along with many ducks came from nowhere when we appeared on the boardwalk! They are swimming on the waters of the ‘Velator Wetlands Project’. Started in the mid 1990’s, the idea is to keep this area as wetlands and prevent the natural progression of wetlands to marshland, marshland to grassland and finally grassland to woodland.
