Red-spotted Admiral

That's what SEEK calls it. I've always called it a red-spotted purple butterfly. Same thing - I did know it was one of the admiral butterflies.

This one is very very ragged. But still flying! I sort of liked the shadow of the spent butterfly bush bloom across it. Although it's a little confusing!  

Butterfly season - which has been rather paltry this year - is coming to an end.
