Rural Brutalism

Lots of prepared fields neatly edged with grass, and trimmed hedgerows, as part of of our ever changing landscape yesterday.

Many of the hedgerows seem to have been cut back more severely than previous years - not much help to biodiversity as well as looking stark. The dykes have also been dredged and scraped quite severly for the last few years - at least that helps prevent Southwell from flooding. an encouraging feature on C4 news tonight about estates embracing the old ways in partnership with nature.

Passed a tractor spraying fields today - another sigh.

At least it appears that freeing ourselves from the EU CAP will possibly promote and fund more farrowness and wild areas. I'm slowly getting family support for more wild flowers and wildness in the garden.

My son has today been offered a cancellation car driving test slot for this Saturday, so having daily post school drives round Lincoln for 3 days, then 3 hours pre-test with his instructor that he has seen once many weeks ago. Wasted quite a bit of time finding old test routes and downloading, eventually in a better format for navigation, which hopefully will be useful. My wife did the same unbeknown to me..all a bit rushed.
