A Gothic Romance

a lovely day today from start to finish!

roses and a card from John.

friend with chainsaw cut up all the logs

on the bus for free with the good old bus pass into Glasgow with a few pals from the leisure club, for a lovely lunch - with fizz - and then to a matinee of Matthew Bourne's Sleeping Beauty, a contemporary ballet, billed as 'A Gothic Romance', to the traditional Tchaikovsky score. It was totally stunning - not a tutu or pointe shoe in sight, just wonderful dancing, amazing costumes and lighting. there was a bit of everything in there, shades of Thriller, the Time Warp, puppetry, and I wouldn't have been surprised to see Helena Bonham Carter appear in her Les Mis persona! There is a website with tour dates around the country and I can't recommend a visit too highly if you like ballet with difference. The photo isn't great, a compact shot, but just gives a wee flavour.

home just in time for a quick change then took Iain to aquafit, and now about to catch up with blip, over my last glass of fizz from the bottle I opened on Tuesday (I have a special stopper!)

a great day to make up in a small way for the last crap week!
